Well, he ain’t a super hero. Some even thought he was a body builder, and no, I don’t sell protein powder! oh really…

WHO AM I?

My real name is Andrew Spaulding (who would’ve known), and I work for Ooyala in Melbourne, Australia, as Senior Solutions Architect. What’s that exactly? Well I’m a technical pre-sales guy who enjoys presenting to customers to showcase the benefits of Ooyala’s world leading online video platform. Some of you may have seen me at Adobe events around the world, at Adobe MAX conferences, or possibly at webDU in Sydney Australia.

HOW DID I GET HERE?

I got a lucky break really, thanks to a friend of mine. He chose Macromedia Flex whilst it was in beta (pre 1.0) to use as our new presentation tier on a Risk Management application we were developing. At the time Flex was relatively new in Australia and we were approached by Macromedia to see how we were going. I stayed in close contact with Macromedia for the next 6 months (or more), when I then got a call to discuss the possibility of joining them in a support role servicing customers throughout Asia Pacific. I couldn’t resist!

With that I started a fantastic career, two months later Macromedia was acquired by Adobe, and 12 months later I moved out of support and into pre-sales.

WHAT ABOUT NOW?

October 2010 marked my 5 year anniversary with Adobe, and it was also time for change. With that I joined Ooyala as Senior Solutions Architect to help organisations both large and small deliver the best possible video experience on the web and across devices. Not only do you need to deliver video well, but also learn about how your users engage with your content so that in turn you can make more money from video!

WHAT ABOUT THE BLOG?

This blog originally began when I was contracting, and was used as more of a promotional tool. Now, it is a popular resource for all things Flex, Flash, Adobe AIR and Video across multiple platforms – as well as any other topic that grabs my attention! I hope you find the information useful and where possible please leave a comment and share your thoughts and opinions with others.

Cheers!
