Fairfax, one of Australia’s top two Newspaper publishers has been working with Fairfax Business Media, it’s publisher of pre-eminent business and finance titles (including The Australian Financial Review, afr.com, AFR Boss, AFR Smart Investor and Business Review Weekly), to build one of the largest public facing Flex applications to date.

Built in conjunction with their development partner The Frame Group, the result was what they term “The serious investor’s toolkit”. Built purely with Flex 1.5 and Java, and also using the widely popular Cairngorm framework, the application aggregates an enormous amount of feeds (they have 24 media partners to be exact) ranging from Newspaper publications, to Stock Feeds and Managed Funds, to Commercial and Residential property listings and demographics … the list goes on!

The application will be replacing most of what is currently available on afr.com and has a dedicated URL available http://www.afraccess.com.

This is an amazing effort that demonstrates the power of bringing the best of desktop applications, to those available on the web. An extremely rich and dynamic experience.
Congratulations to all involved on an amazing effort!
